19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to force a third set.
Moutet rescued four early chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
